Self-Doubt is the single most destructive force each of us endures alone in our minds. It impedes your progress by poisoning your thoughts dissuading you from pursuing action. One way to overcome self doubt is to set up a “win” for yourself. I’ve learned self doubt walks hand in hand in lack of self confidence. In order to feel successful a couple of things come to mind:

Mistakes are OK..

Self-doubt stems from fear, it is simply the fear of negative things happening. Worrying encourages more worrying, to overcome this fear, you will need to change your thought pattern. Mistakes are a part of life so don’t allow mistakes to make you feel guilty and bad, rather, let them be your teacher. Do not allow the fear of making one imprison you in self-doubt. Know that just because you make mistakes does not mean you are a failure. Go on and try something new, you will never grow unless you take risks.




Practice at being positive

Practice makes improvements, to overcome self-doubt we must do away with one habit and form another one. Discipline is required anytime a person is forming a new habit. Practice believing in yourself rather than doubting.

Don’t fight your mind 

 I know there are a lot of shits out there about using affirmations and positive psychology to beat self doubt. It won’t work because then you would fighting your mind’s natural process. Worse still is using substance to such as drugs, food and movies to numb your pain. All these approach are doomed to failure and you shouldn’t bother with them.

Understand that negativity is vital for survival

Doubt is an essential part of life. If you had nothing but faith in yourself and never questioned anything you did, that would lead you down the road of narcissism. Doubt can be healthy. However, like anything, doubt has a specific place. There is room for doubt when you are creating something and experimenting with possibilities. There is room for doubt when you have hurt someone or made a mistake. Hence, Self doubt is not a stigma, it’s just your mind doing its job.

Don’t care about your thoughts

The way you stop doubting yourself is understanding that the self doubting thoughts you are having are nothing but thoughts. You thinking them doesn’t mean they are the truth, the thoughts come about on their own to do their job of keeping you alive. Thoughts are nothing but words and theories in your head.




Surround yourself with good people 

 You are the average of your five closest friends, if your friends are constant nags, you’ll always have self doubt. Surround yourself with confident people who will influence you positively. Remember to communicate. There are never any unique problems. There is a merit to seeking ideas and feedback from people who care for you.

You want to know how to get rid of that doubt? The only way to really get rid of it is to act in the face of it. It’s saying, “I don’t know if I can do this, but I’m going to try. And at least I’ll know, one way or another.”
